Smart Mailbox Cleaner is a privacy-first Gmail cleanup tool that scans your email metadata to identify deletable messages across seven categories. It lets you bulk-delete thousands of emails in one click with a 30-day undo window, without ever reading your email content.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner connects to your Gmail via secure Google OAuth, then scans email metadata (sender, subject, size, date, and labels) to categorize messages by cleanup potential. Each email receives a confidence score indicating how safe it is to delete.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner offers a free plan that includes 1,000 email cleanup credits and one connected mailbox. Paid plans start at ₹149/month for additional credits, automation playbooks, and advanced features.
Creating an account takes less than 30 seconds. Click Get Started Free on the homepage and sign in with your Google account. Smart Mailbox Cleaner uses Google OAuth for secure authentication, so you never share your password.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner fully supports Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) accounts. Workspace admins can pre-authorize the app domain-wide, enabling all users in the organization to clean their mailboxes.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner requests Gmail read-only access (for metadata scanning), Gmail modify access (to safely move emails to trash and support undo), and Google Drive metadata access (for storage breakdown). These are the minimum scopes required.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner offers a free Chrome extension that adds quick-access Gmail scanning directly from your browser toolbar. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner is available as a verified Google Workspace Marketplace add-on. IT administrators can install it domain-wide, enabling centralized license management, pooled credits, and organization-wide cleanup policies.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner is designed with privacy as the core principle. It never reads your email content, only metadata. Unlike alternatives that monetize user data or require full email access, it uses minimal OAuth scopes and offers a guaranteed 30-day undo.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner web app is fully responsive and works on any mobile browser including Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. No mobile app installation required.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner never reads the body or content of your emails. The app only accesses email metadata including sender address, subject line, message size, date, and Gmail labels.
Account data and scan metadata are stored on encrypted servers with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 encryption in transit. OAuth tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Smart Mailbox Cleaner does not store email content.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner uses Google OAuth 2.0, the same secure authentication protocol used by all verified Google Marketplace apps. The app has passed Google security review and complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy.
Google OAuth 2.0 is a secure authorization framework that lets third-party apps request specific, limited permissions to your Google account without ever seeing your password. Smart Mailbox Cleaner uses OAuth to request only the minimum scopes needed.
Access can be revoked instantly from your Google Account security settings under Third-party apps with account access. Alternatively, you can disconnect your account directly from the Smart Mailbox Cleaner dashboard.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner is fully compliant with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The app has completed Google OAuth verification and security assessment process.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner collects only what is necessary: your Google account email for authentication, email metadata from scans, cleanup history for the 30-day undo feature, and basic usage analytics. It never collects email body content, attachments, contacts, or calendar data.
A Smart Scan is the automated inbox analysis that categorizes your emails across seven cleanup categories: large attachments, old promotions, social notifications, newsletters, updates, forums, and aged emails. It reads only metadata and assigns each email a confidence score.
The confidence score is a safety rating (HIGH, MEDIUM, or REVIEW) assigned to every email during a scan, indicating how likely it is to be safe to delete. HIGH-confidence emails are typically old promotional messages, while REVIEW emails may need manual inspection.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner displays full metadata for every email before deletion including sender, subject line, date, size, labels, and confidence score. You can expand individual results, deselect specific messages, and review category breakdowns.
Run a Smart Scan and navigate to the Promotions category, which automatically identifies marketing emails, deal alerts, and retail notifications. Filter by age, review the results with confidence scores, and click Clean to move them all to trash in one batch.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner includes a Newsletter Manager that automatically detects recurring marketing senders and newsletters. You can batch-unsubscribe from multiple newsletters simultaneously and optionally purge all historical messages from those senders.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner Large Attachments scan category automatically identifies emails with the biggest file attachments consuming your Google storage. You can sort results by size, preview attachment metadata, and selectively delete the largest space-consumers.
Every cleanup action in Smart Mailbox Cleaner is fully reversible for 30 days. Deleted emails are moved to Gmail trash (not permanently deleted) and can be restored to their original labels and inbox location with one click from the Cleanup History panel.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner includes a Custom Scan Builder that lets you create advanced cleanup queries using six filter dimensions: sender, subject keywords, size, age, Gmail category, and read status. You can combine filters visually without learning Gmail search syntax.
Automation Playbooks let you schedule recurring cleanup rules that run daily, weekly, or monthly. Each playbook includes a dry-run simulation mode that shows you exactly what would be deleted before activating the schedule.
Smart Mailbox Cleaner supports connecting and managing multiple Gmail accounts from a single unified dashboard. The Power plan supports up to 5 connected mailboxes with independent scan history and shared automation playbooks.
Cleanup credits represent the number of emails you can delete through Smart Mailbox Cleaner. Each email moved to trash consumes one credit. The free plan includes 1,000 credits, while paid plans offer 10,000 to unlimited credits per billing period.
Gmail storage fills up due to accumulated emails with large attachments, years of promotional messages, social media notifications, and automated alerts. Google 15 GB free storage is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.
Every Google account comes with 15 GB of free storage shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. Google Workspace accounts may receive 30 GB to 5 TB depending on the subscription tier.
Gmail storage includes all messages in your inbox, sent folder, labels, archives, spam, and trash. File attachments within emails are the biggest storage consumers. Messages in trash still count toward your quota until Google permanently deletes them after 30 days.
Visit one.google.com/storage to see your storage breakdown across Gmail, Drive, and Photos. Smart Mailbox Cleaner also provides a real-time storage gauge on your dashboard with growth rate tracking.
Deleting emails with attachments frees up storage from the shared 15 GB pool that Gmail and Google Drive share. However, the space is only fully reclaimed after deleted messages are permanently removed from Gmail trash.
Emails moved to trash are permanently deleted by Google after 30 days, at which point the storage space is fully released. To reclaim space immediately, go to Gmail Trash folder and click Empty Trash now.
When your Google storage quota is exceeded, you cannot send or receive new emails. Incoming messages bounce back to senders with a delivery failure notification. You also cannot upload files to Google Drive or back up new photos to Google Photos.

Smart Mailbox Cleaner offers refunds within 7 days of purchase if you have not used more than 10% of your plan credits. Refund requests can be submitted through the contact form or by emailing support@smartmailboxcleaner.com.
When your cleanup credits are exhausted, you can still view scan results and access your cleanup history, but new delete operations are paused until credits refresh. Free plan credits reset every 30 days.
Cleanup credits do not roll over between billing periods. They reset at the start of each new cycle. If you consistently need more credits, upgrading to a higher tier provides significantly more capacity at a better per-email rate.
